March's birthstone is a light blue aquamarine. This simulated aquamarine crystal is framed in a gold bezel rub over setting and measures 4mm in diameter. It is 24kt gold plated over surgical stainless steel.

Gold Plated Steel

Jewellery is called gold plated when a layer of gold has been deposited onto the surface of another metal. Surgical steel is a stainless steel with the 316L designation. Just like any other steel, this steel contains nickel.
